{"id":74,"date":"2026-10-02T11:12:44","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T10:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sripuwath.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/02\/sri-lanka-stocks-close-down-0-33-pct-banks-lead-turnover\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T11:12:44","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T10:12:44","slug":"sri-lanka-stocks-close-down-0-33-pct-banks-lead-turnover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sripuwath.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/02\/sri-lanka-stocks-close-down-0-33-pct-banks-lead-turnover\/","title":{"rendered":"Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.33-pct; banks lead turnover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ECONOMYNEXT \u2013 Sri Lanka\u2019s Colombo Stock Exchange closed lower on Friday, CSE data showed, with the benchmark All Share Price Index falling 0.33 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The ASPI was down 68.26 points at 20,812.64, while the more liquid S&amp;P SL20 was down 0.25 percent, or 14.93 points, at 5,886.72.<\/p>\n<p>Positive contributors to the ASPI were Citizens Development Business Finance (up 5.15 percent at 34.70 rupees), Richard Pieris and Company (up 2.31 percent at 26.60 rupees), PGP Glass Ceylon (up 1.63 percent at 56.10 rupees), and Sri Lanka Telecom (up 1.43 percent at 85.10 rupees).<\/p>\n<p>Carson Cumberbatch (down 2.67 percent at 710.00 rupees), Singer (Sri Lanka) (down 3.05 percent at 76.20 rupees), SMB Finance (down 8.33 percent at 1.10 rupees), and Commercial Bank of Ceylon (down 0.49 percent at 202.00 rupees) were top negative contributors.<\/p>\n<p>Market turnover was 873.38 million rupees. The S&amp;P\/CSE Banks sector led turnover with 244.40 million rupees, while Real Estate Management and Development recorded 177.44 million rupees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrading started off extremely slowly before picking up slightly in the final hour, with crossings in Sampath Bank, LIOC, and NDB accounting for roughly 350 to 400 million rupees\u2014almost half the day\u2019s total turnover,\u201d said Raynal Wickremeratne, Head of Research and Strategy at NDB Securities.
