{"id":12,"date":"2026-09-25T08:19:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T07:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sripuwath.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/25\/sri-lankas-windforce-submits-winning-bids-for-28mw-battery-storage-projects\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T08:19:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T07:19:12","slug":"sri-lankas-windforce-submits-winning-bids-for-28mw-battery-storage-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sripuwath.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/25\/sri-lankas-windforce-submits-winning-bids-for-28mw-battery-storage-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Sri Lanka\u2019s WindForce submits winning bids for 28MW battery storage projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ECONOMYNEXT \u2014 Six project companies of renewable energy firm WindForce PLC have submitted winning bids to develop 28 megawatts (MW) and 144 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS), the company said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.cse.lk\/cmt\/announcement_portal_prod\/25.09.2026%20-%20%20CSE%20Announcement%20-%20Corporate%20Disclosure%20-%20revised%203_13187788238891187.pdf\">regulatory filing.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The estimated equity investment for WindForce across these energy storage projects is approximately 944 million rupees.<\/p>\n<p>The bids were placed under a tender for the establishment of 150 MW \/ 600 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems integrated with existing ground-mounted solar power plants. The projects will be built on a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) model for a 15-year operational period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the formal award of the projects is still pending, the Board of Directors considers this development to be price-sensitive information, given its relevance to the Company\u2019s future operations, potential project portfolio expansion and long-term financial outlook,\u201d WindForce said.<\/p>\n<p>The company confirmed that the bid prices submitted by its project firms fell within the winning bid threshold.<\/p>\n<p>The six participating units include Diya Janani (Pvt) Ltd, in which WindForce holds a 100 percent stake with a project capacity of 3.75 MW \/ 18.75 MWh; Kebitigollewa Solar Power (Pvt) Ltd, where it holds 88.50 percent (4.90 MW \/ 25.00 MWh); and Vydexa (Pvt) Ltd, in which it owns 76.13 percent (4.90 MW \/ 25.00 MWh).<\/p>\n<p>The remaining capacity belongs to Solar Universe (Pvt) Ltd, Sooryashakthi (Pvt) Ltd, and Solar One Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd, each 50 percent owned by WindForce and each holding 4.90 MW \/ 25.00 MWh. Together, the projects total 28.25 MW and 143.75 MWh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis announcement contains forward-looking statements based on the current bidding outcome.
