Sri Lanka prepares for third AML/CFT evaluation

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka is preparing for the third mutual evaluation on international compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) standards, scheduled to be conducted from October 26 to November 6, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s media division said.

A meeting chaired by Dissanayake focused on the progress in implementing the relevant recommendations and action plan at ministerial and institutional levels, the PMD said.

“The discussion also covered matters such as operationalising the Proceeds of Crime Act, the implementation of the Companies Act and the amendment of the Trusts Ordinance.”

Coordination activities relating to the evaluation process are being carried out by the central bank’s Financial Intelligence Unit.

Completing the third evaluation process will help strengthen Sri Lanka’s credibility within the international financial system. (Colombo/Oct7/2026)
